Thieves have stolen cash and jewellery from an elderly woman in Belfast.

Between 9.30am and 11.15am on Tuesday morning, the woman was targeted at her home on Dover Street, just off the Shankill Road.

Police said she was not hurt but had been left shaken by the incident.

A police officer said: "I would like to reassure people that this sort of incident is thankfully not common, but we need all your assistance to make sure that we can catch the culprits.

They added: "If you have any information about this incident, no matter how small, please call us on 101, or you can call Crimestoppers on 0800555111”

They also thanked the local community who have been supporting the woman.
