Tommy Simpson landed a beautiful trout weighing 8lb 15ozs
The weather has been atrocious, leaving anglers little chance to put their skills into practice.
The Ballykelly Fly Fishers were so lucky to have booked a lovely day, on Wednesday of last week.
About 32 trout were banked in total, not to mention the ones that got away.
Tommy Simpson was judged as angler of the day when he landed a real beauty weighing 8lb 15ozs which was caught on a GH damsel.
Tommy also bagged three others which weighed almost 11lb.
Constantine Carton banked 12 trout which took an orange fritz and a black fritz.
Tommy Barton banked four but only took two home weighing 5lb 7ozs.
David Taylor banked three, taking one home which weighed 3lb 1oz. Tommy Stevenson bagged two weighing 5lb 14ozs while Dean Murphy also banked two which took buzzers.
Robert Whyte and Ricky Hill had one trout each which took assorted lures.
Arnold Boreland gave Cashel a throw one terriblly wet and windy day and still managed to bank an amazing 26 trout which took a black tadpole.
Aidy Askin (Culmore) banked 11 trout over two days which took GH bloodworm and GH black buzzers. Martin Bradley (Dungiven) released two trout during a snow shower while Thomas Farren did likewise in similar conditions.
Well done to all this weekend.
Breakfast is now being served at Cashel in the comfort of an open log fire with plenty of craic. Group bookings are most welcome during the week.
Tightlines for next weekend and fingers crossed for a tagged trout.
