A motorcyclist is in a critical condition following a two vehicle road traffic collision in the Castlereagh area of east Belfast.

The collision on the Ballymaconaghy Road on Friday, involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a silver Mercedes car, occurred at the junction of the Ballymaconaghy Road and Knockbracken Manor at around 5.40pm.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 20’s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. A man aged in his 50’s was arrested by police and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Inspector Johnston has asked anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information to contact officers at Castlereagh on 101 quoting reference 944 30/09/16.
