Champ pays tribute to Eamonn Magee's tragic son
Former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton paid tribute to Eamonn Magee Jnr at a memorial night in Belfast for the 22-year-old who was a rising star of the sport.
Magee, son of ex-world boxing champ Eamonn Magee, died after being stabbed in Twinbrook near Belfast earlier this year. A man has been charged with murder.
Hatton, who fought Eamonn Magee Snr in 2002 in Manchester, addressed a packed audience at a black tie event at The Devenish Complex in Finaghy at the weekend.
"It's just a tragedy. He was a very, very talented boxer. I've seen footage of him box, he was a very talented boxer in his own right.
"He had a great future ahead of him and his life was cut down very short," Hatton, from Manchester, was reported as saying.
