Chaos at Bangor health centre
The chaos endured by Bangor’s health centre users and staff has been compared to the carnage seen in one of the world’s most bombed cities - Beirut.
The Newtownards Road facility is undergoing a £450,000 facelift, but for four months now patients, GPs, nurses and staff have had to contend with blocked doors and windows, dust and dirt and water pouring through its ceiling.
At one point, the work, which has been causing parking chaos, prevented an ambulance from getting close to the building to rush a seriously ill baby to hospital.
Staff, who told the Co Down Spectator that they are at their wits' end, are having to endure days on end of working without natural light, and patients at a blood clinic had to face a deluge of water pouring in through the ceiling of their waiting room.
