Three children were lucky to escape uninjured after a petrol bomb attack on their home.

A man and a woman were also inside the property in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, when it was targeted over the weekend.

The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Sunday in the Oakwood Road area.

It was reported to police that a petrol bomb was thrown through the front window of the house.

The window was smashed by the force of the impact, but the device failed to ignite.

It has since been removed for forensic examination.

The PSNI issued an appeal for anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

A spokesman said that any witness should contact Larne police station on the 101 non-emergency number.

Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
