George Wilson was killed at Monaghan Bros garage in Lisnaskea.

A Co Fermanagh community is in shock over the death of a dad-of-two in a tragic workplace accident.

George Wilson, 51, was crushed to death on Saturday morning by a runaway car in Lisnaskea, the Belfast Telegraph understands.

It is believed he was parking cars in a carpark beside the Monaghan Brothers car dealership on Main Street, where he worked, when he was crushed underneath another vehicle that had begun to move.

Fermanagh and South Tyrone DUP MLA Arlene Foster said the entire community was in shock and deeply saddened by Mr Wilson's death.

She said: "Newtownbutler is a very close-knit community. Everyone will rally to help as this family grieves this sudden loss on the mouth of Christmas.

"George was a friendly gentleman, always keen to help and be of help. He will be missed dreadfully by his colleagues in the garage, but most of all, it is his wife Jennifer and his family who will feel his loss most keenly.

"I know everyone affected by this tragedy will be foremost in our prayers."

Police are investigating the circumstances of the fatality and officials from the Health and Safety Executive have been alerted.
