Controlled blast on west Belfast. hoax bomb
Police have condemned the “cowards” behind a hoax bomb alert which led to homes being evacuated in west Belfast.
The object was discovered on Fort Street around 2.30pm yesterday.
A controlled explosion was carried out on the device by Army bomb experts, and it was later declared to be a hoax.
People were moved out of the area while the suspicious object was examined.
Inspector Roy Watton said those responsible had shown a total disregard for people in the area.
