Controlled explosion carried out in north Belfast security alert

A controlled explosion has been carried out after an object was found in north Belfast.

A number of homes were evacuated as a result of the security alert on the Crumlin Road.

Several items were examined by police and army bomb experts, and a controlled explosion was carried out.

Police have now said nothing untoward was found, and the area has reopened.
