Controlled explosion on suspect car
Army bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a car abandoned outside a police station in what officers have described as a hoax alert.
Police said one man had been arrested in connection with the incident in which a vehicle was left outside New Barnsley station in west Belfast - the province's latest security alert this week.
About 100 families were evacuated from their homes because of the alert but have since been allowed to return.
On Wednesday, a booby trap bomb was found under a soldier's car in Bangor, Co Down. Army bomb disposal officers carried out a series of controlled explosions on the device outside the home in the seaside town's Chatsworth area.
Members of the public narrowly escaped injury on Tuesday morning when a car bomb exploded outside a police station in Londonderry.
A taxi driver had been hijacked in the city and forced to drive his car to the station after a device containing 200lbs of home-made explosive was loaded on board. Politicians and police have condemned the incidents.
