Cool FM presenter sheds five stone in challenge with BBC's Stephen Nolan
A challenge with rival station radio presenter Stephen Nolan spurred Cool FM DJ Stuart Robinson to drop five stone.
Now the slimmest he's ever been throughout his adult life, Robinson said he had started his one-man mission to slim for the summer after telling pal Nolan that he would shift the pounds in January.
The 37-year-old admitted before the challenge he would drive to fast food outlets like McDonald's and KFC for lunch every day while working at the station, but now walks 5km on his break every day instead.
Robinson explained the pair's lifetime of bad habits begun when he was a late-night presenter at Citybeat.
Celebrating his success, he joked: "I looked like I was about to give birth in January."
Robinson said his moment of realisation came on holiday.
"I was doing laps of the buffet table, getting desserts and eating them and going back for more and I realised I wasn't even enjoying the food. I was really just eating for eating's sake and realised I needed to change," he said.
"My girlfriend bought me a shirt for Christmas. I opened it up and I looked at it, and said, 'That's really lovely but there's no way that will fit me'.
"She offered to take it back and change it but I said no and made myself a challenge to fit into it in time for Valentine's Day."
