Co-operation Ireland at vanguard of peace in Northern Ireland, says Lord Kerr
UK Supreme Court judge Lord Brian Kerr has paid tribute to the all-island peace-building charity 'Co-operation Ireland' for standing "at the vanguard" of efforts to promote peace in Northern Ireland.
Baron Kerr of Tonaghmore -- the former Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland -- was speaking last night at the annual legal dinner of the charity at the Dorchester hotel in London.
"There is no more worthy project in the mind of every right-thinking Irishman than the fostering of peace in our beloved homeland," he said .
Guests included David Nolan SC, chairman of the Bar Council of Ireland, and Maura McGowan QC, chairman of the Bar Council of England and Wales.
Over the past 15 years, the dinner has attracted the support of law firms, chambers, financial establishments and stock exchanges from the UK, Ireland and the US, with more than 400 guests each year.
