Council cracks down on drinking in public

Belfast City Council has continued its crackdown on people drinking in public, with four more successful prosecutions at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on July 6.

Thomas McKinney, of Brompton Park in the city, was fined £50, plus £66 in costs, for an offence committed on the Antrim Road on February 5, 2010.

Stephen Lindsay, of Abernethy Drive, Newtownabbey, similarly was fined £50, plus £66 in costs, for an offence committed in the city’s Botanic Gardens on February 20, 2010.

Padraig Clarke, of Lagmore Rise, also was fined £50, plus £66 costs, for an offence committed at Mount Alverno on February 12, 2010. Adam Wright, from Jefferson Court in Strabane, was fined £50, plus £66 in costs, for an offence committed in University Avenue on January 17, 2010.
