Police are hunting two men who threatened a couple at gunpoint in north Belfast.

It is understood the men, who were armed with handguns, forced their way into a house in the Alliance Avenue area on Wednesday demanding money.

They assaulted the male occupant, who suffered a cut to his face, but fled empty handed.

The PSNI want to hear from anyone who was in the area at about 6.30pm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave PSNI station on 101.
