A couple have been left shaken after five masked men armed with crowbars broke into a house demanding money.

The victims were assaulted in the property at Greenhill Road in Ballymoney on Monday night.

Detective Sergeant Kelly Gallagher said that the attack happened sometime between 8.15pm and 8.30pm.

The masked men ransacked the house before making off in a vehicle with an undisclosed sum of cash.

The couple involved were not seriously injured.

Detective Sergeant Gallagher said: "We are investigating this incident and I would appeal to anyone who was in the Knock Road and Greenhill Road area on Monday night and noticed any suspicious activity, or anyone with any other information, to contact detectives at Coleraine police station on 101.

"Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by telephoning 0800 555 111."
