Crowds flock to Belfast City Hall to watch Lord Mayor and the Cool FM crew switch on the Christmas lights

Thousands flocked to Belfast city centre on Saturday night to watch the Christmas lights being switched on.

Earlier on Saturday the Christmas Market in the grounds of Belfast City Hall opened for the festive season.

On Saturday evening crowds gathered in front of city hall for entertainment from Lily and the Klangers as well as music from Springfield Primary School pupils.

The Christmas lights were officially switched on by the Lord Mayor Brian Kingston with help from the Cool Fm crew including Pete Snodden and Rebecca McKinney.

Artificial snow was sprayed over the cheering crowd ast the City Hall and its' Christmas tree were lit up in a spectacular display.
