Dad and son plead guilty to running brothel
A Co Antrim father and son have pleaded guilty to charges arising from an undercover police operation into brothel-keeping across Northern Ireland.
Marina boss Robert Weir (56), of Drumsough Road, Randalstown, pleaded guilty to a single count of running or managing a brothel in Belfast and at various locations.
His son Matthew Weir (28), of Churchview, Randalstown, pleaded guilty to one charge of aiding and abetting his father in the operation.
A prosecution lawyer told the court that charges relating to the Proceeds of Crime Act had yet to be resolved. Judge Philpott QC ordered a pre-sentence report and adjourned sentencing until next month. The Deputy Belfast Recorder ordered the defence legal teams to return tapes of the undercover surveillance carried out on the accused during the course of the investigation by the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch.
