The wife of Daniel O'Donnell has said she "feels good" as she prepares to undergo final corrective surgery for breast cancer.
The 54-year-old, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last July and has since undergone a double mastectomy, is nearing the end of her treatment for the illness.
Speaking to TV3's Midday panel show, Majella, who has beaten the disease, revealed she will undergo final surgery at the end of the summer.
"Everything is going well with my treatment, just a little more corrective surgery come September," she said. "Apart from that, it's going well. I feel good."
She also told the show she had the "ideal" relationship balance due to her husband's busy touring schedule.
"I kind of have a double life because I am single a lot of the time and then have a husband a lot of the time – ideal, really," she said.
The couple, who wed in 2002, were back home in Donegal recently following a week in the pilgrimage town of Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 52-year-old singer said: "We had planned this trip last September as a friend of ours who is a priest was leading the group we travelled with.
"At that time Majella was in the middle of her treatment and looking forward. We felt that she would be well on the road to recovery and we thought the week in Medjugorje would give both of us time to reflect on the year that had passed."
Several weeks after her diagnosis last year, O'Donnell revealed that his wife had beaten the cancer and would complete her remaining treatment.
He told the Donegal Democrat: "Thank God with early intervention and surgery the cancer is gone now and it is a matter of further treatment.
"It can be beaten and I thank God that Majella is on the road to recovery. It's just so important to me that we will be together for a long, long time – the rest of our lives."
Majella earned legions of fans across Ireland when she agreed to shave her head live on the Late Late Show last year to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
The 54-year businesswoman from Co Tipperary has two grown-up children from a previous marriage, which was later annulled.
She met Daniel while on holidays in Tenerife in 2000 and the pair then got married two years later.
