David Clarke murder: Man arrested in Shankill

A man has been arrested in the Shankill area of Belfast over the murder of David Clarke in 2001.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch arrested the 32-year-old this morning.

He has been taken to a police station in Belfast for questioning.

David Clarke, 26,  who had learning difficulties, was beaten to death in his flat at Forthriver Road.

The case was re-opened after police received new information.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Dickson said: “I would continue to ask anyone with information to do the right thing and come forward with anything they know. They can call the police non-emergency number 101, or use the independent charity Crimestoppers, where information can be provided anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
