D-Day veterans urged to apply for France's Legion of Honour award
D-Day veterans have been encouraged to apply to receive France's highest award, the Legion of Honour.
East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson also urged those who took part in the subsequent Battle for Normandy, the invasion of Provence and the liberation of France to apply for the 'Légion d'honneur'.
The French Government plans to award the honour to every surviving British veteran from all services who fought to liberate France.
Mr Wilson said: "I hope that surviving veterans will avail themselves of the honour that has now been offered."
Mr Wilson said DUP offices had copies of application forms which are also available from the Ministry of Defence in London.
