Death on Downpatrick farm: Probe launched in Co Down
An investigation has been launched following the "sudden death" of a man on a farm near Downpatrick, County Down.
A PSNI spokesman said they were alerted to the man's death at about 5:30pm on Monday.
The death is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI), which deals with work-related accidents.
A HSENI spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at this most difficult time."
SDLP MP Margaret Ritchie said the man, whose name has not yet been released, was well known in the area.
"He's been involved in farming all his life, highly respected in the local community by his peers, neighbours, friends and relatives.
"I want to offer my deepest condolences to his family, his sisters and brother," she said.
