Delay EU vote, I'll be at finals, says Kinahan
An MP who bought tickets to one of Northern Ireland's potential last 16 matches at Euro 2016 has been accused of "extreme optimism".
Ulster Unionist Danny Kinahan urged ministers not to hold the referendum on Britain's EU membership in June because he will be travelling to France to attend the football European Championship. But Tory Mark Spencer mocked Mr Kinahan for his "optimistic" assumption that Northern Ireland would navigate a group featuring Germany, Poland and Ukraine and qualify for the second round of the tournament this summer. The Sherwood MP told the Commons: "It's a pleasure to follow the honourable member and his extreme optimism for Northern Ireland reaching the final 16 but I too shall be cheering on Northern Ireland and wishing them all the best."
