Derry out to make its mark with a first Tattoo
The first Tattoo event to be held in Ireland begins tonight in Londonderry as part of the City of Culture celebrations.
The Walled City Tattoo will bring Irish and Highland dancers, drummers, pipers, acrobats and musicians to Ebrington Square over the next four nights.
A huge stage and seating arena capable of holding up to 4,000 people nightly has transformed the Square and tickets for the event are selling fast.
A total of 33 Highland and Irish dance schools are represented.
They will be joined by performers from the Republic, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Tanzania and Britain.
Producer James Kee said: "I've been thinking about a Tattoo in our city for years now.
"To see it finally coming together after months of planning and hard work is amazing. We are all very excited and proud about bringing this event to our city."
