Designer Shauna and her 'model' give bitchy trolls a dressing down
A dress created by a Belfast-based designer helped secure the best dressed lady's crown at the Galway Races.
Co Offaly woman Lisa McGowan stunned the judges last week to win the coveted title with her Shauna Fay frock.
Shauna was proud as punch, taking to her Instagram account to post a photograph of Lisa wearing her dress, sparking a host of compliments.
However, Lisa was less fortunate, and instead of admiration she attracted a host of cruel comments when she posted a photograph of her in the winning outfit on her Facebook page, Lisa's Lust List.
The comments were intensely personal, with remarks about her "tangoed" skin, a reference to the deep hue of her tan after holidaying in Boston, and even her smile.
The keyboard warriors also criticised the colour of her teeth and her bustline.
She initially responded to the comments with humour, posting "ok girls I'm seeing a pattern emerging here.. Note to self... Keep my mouth shut when I get excited".
But as her nightmare continued she decided to speak out.
"It won't end unless you do something about it," she said last night.
"I've had so many messages from victims, I'd had enough, and decided to speak out."
The insurance broker spoke about the comments when she appeared on RTE's Today FM radio show with Sean O'Rourke yesterday morning.
"I feel I need to say this - please anybody out there whether male or female, if you've nothing good to say about anybody, don't say it," she said.
"That's why we have anorexia, depression and self-harm out there."
Shauna has also spoken out to back Lisa, with whom she is currently working on a new line, Strawberry and Lime.
"I just think if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all," she said.
