Disgraced clergyman is accused of assault
A disgraced cleric is to face court again charged with assaulting a woman.
A fortnight ago former Church of Ireland minister Spencer Gilchrist was given a four-month suspended prison sentence for harassing two women.
Gilchrist (46), was formerly the minister at St Saviour's Church in Connor, Ballymena, Co Antrim.
Last year he was placed on probation for three years after admitting 22 charges of making indecent photographs of a child.
After admitting those previous charges in March 2011 he was ordered to take part in a special treatment programme.
Last week he pleaded not guilty to common assault at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court
It is alleged Gilchrist — who now lives in Cushendall — assaulted a woman on June 23.
He is due in court today where a date will be arranged for the charge to be contested.
Gilchrist last month admitted he had pursued a course of conduct which amounted to harassment of two women.
He received a four-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months. A restraining order was also placed on him for three years.
