Swedish DJ Avicii wowed the Belfast audience last night as he took to the stage at Tennent's Vital in front of thousands of adoring fans.

The 26-year-old is set to retire from the music business at the weekend.

Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, announced earlier this year that he would be retiring after his current concert tour.

In a long statement posted on his official website the Swede said his tours and shows this year would be his last as he urged fans to "make them go out with a bang".

Last night's sellout valedictory performance was the second time the Scandinavian star has performed at Tennent's Vital, making his Northern Ireland debut in 2013.

Event organiser Brian Spollen said that fans had come from as afar away as South America, continental Europe and the Persian Gulf to see Avicii perform live.

Avicii's farewell follows a triumphant performance from The Red Hot Chili Peppers on Thursday.
