A doctor who works at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry has been given until February 6 to decide whether she will plead guilty or not guilty to allegations that she assaulted two police officers.

Dr Eireann Kerr (30) from Marlborough Park South in Belfast appeared in court on January 8 charged with assaulting a male and female constable at Strand Road police station in Derry on December 13.

It is claimed the incident took place following a staff Christmas party in Derry city centre last month.

She is further charged with resisting one of the officers, also at Strand Road, possessing an offensive weapon, namely an Apple iPhone, and with disorderly behaviour.

Dr Kerr is currently on police bail.

The case was mentioned at the Magistrates Court in Derry yesterday by defence solicitor Derwin Harvey.

He asked for the the case to be "adjourned until February 6 for attitude", meaning a guilty or not guilty plea.
