Dodds hopes to whip locals into Royal frenzy

by Chris McCann

Royal wedding fever gripped north Belfast this week as the local MP went door-to-door in a bid to raise spirits for the big day.

DUP MP Nigel Dodds has produced a 2011 Calendar Card commemorating the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Mr Dodds distributed the calendar to senior citizens in residential homes in the North Belfast constituency during the run-up to Christmas.

Speaking to the Community Telegraph about the idea Mr Dodds said:

“I greatly enjoy visiting the many residential homes in our constituency and having a chat with folk.

“The Royal Wedding will be the highlight of our national life in the coming year, so that was the obvious event to commemorate.

“The calendars have proven to be very popular and it has been a pleasure to pass these on in person along with my best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.”

Remaining copies of the Calendar Card are available, for a donation of £1 each towards constituency association funds, from Nigel Dodds’ constituency office at 39 Shore Road, Belfast (Tel: 90 774774).

The office will reopen on Tuesday January 4. Prince William and Kate Middleton will marry on April 29 2011.
