Drink-driver banned after crashing her car into tree
A Co Antrim woman who crashed her car into a tree while over the limit, turning it into a fireball, has been banned from driving.
Emmalene Tuff, of Shane Court, Broughshane, had been celebrating turning 36 on Sunday November 6 last year and on the Saturday she had been out for a meal and had drinks.
Her solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court that after sleeping for six hours at her mother's house she got behind the wheel to go home and at 3.45am on her birthday crashed at Grove Road.
Tuff had an alcohol/blood reading of 104 - the legal limit is 80.
Mr Ballentine said it was "a birthday that was memorable for all the wrong reasons".
Tuff pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess alcohol and was banned from the road for 15 months and fined £250.
