This was the scene after a red Mercedes Benz crashed though a hedge in south Belfast.

The car is believed to have careered through a safety barrier into a fence while travelling along the Upper Malone Road.

The force of the impact left the vehicle dangling over a house on the lower level Greystown Park, which runs parallel to the road it had been travelling on.

A man was in the car along with his pet dog, which was in the boot.

Neither was injured in the incident yesterday afternoon.

Traffic on the Upper Malone Road was stopped for a time by the PSNI for rescue workers to remove the car from the fence.

Ropes were used to pull the car from the bank with the help of a portable crane on a lorry.
