Duo charged over drugs find
A quarter-of-a-kilo of herbal cannabis was found under the back seat of a car which was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint, a court has been told.
Two men from the Waterside area of Londonderry appeared in court charged with offences linked to the discovery.
Emmett Seamus Kelly (21), from Tamneymore Park, and Paul Kelly (29), from Celadine Court, are charged with possessing the drugs and possessing them with intent to supply.
A police witness told District Judge Brian Archer at the city's magistrates court that he believed Emmett Kelly was “the organiser of the expedition”. The officer said Emmet Kelly was “an actual drugs dealer who had duped his co-accused”.
The witness said the car, driven by Emmet Kelly, was stopped just outside Ballykelly in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Both men were released on bail of £500 to appear in court again on February 21.
