DUP man Tommy Jeffers a father again at the age of 73
DUP councillor Tommy Jeffers has spoken of his joy at becoming a dad again at the age of 73.
The septuagenarian and his 45-year-old wife Catherine welcomed their new arrival - David Samuel Jeffers - last Saturday at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.
Little David, who weighed in at 6lbs 2oz, was born by Caesarean section and his proud dad said he had been busy caring for his wife after the procedure.
"I suppose most dads who are a bit younger are straight back to work after their baby is born but that isn't the case for me, so I will be able to spend plenty of time with David and Catherine," said the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council member.
The grandfather-of-six said he had been astounded by the changes in equipment available for babies compared to the first time he became a dad, almost five decades ago.
