Elderly residents locked in bedroom during burglary

A man aged in his 80s and two women aged in their 90s were locked in a bedroom while their house was ransacked by burglars.

A gang of burglars locked three elderly people in a bedroom before ransacking their house in Kilcoo, Co Down, on Saturday night.

The three men forced their way into the house in the Hilltown Road area sometime between 9.40pm and 10.40pm.

The three elderly occupants, two women aged in their 90s and a man aged in his 80s, were locked in a downstairs bedroom while the burglars ransacked the house.

It is not yet known if anything was stolen.

The man and women were not injured but were left shaken by the ordeal.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may be able to assist the investigation in any other way is asked to contact Detectives in Ardmore Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
