Elderly woman becomes 76th person to die on Northern Ireland's roads this year after her car collides with a skip in south Belfast

PSNI appeal for information as officers investigate the cause of the crash

An 82-year-old woman has died after her car collided with a skip in south Belfast at the weekend.

The woman was the driver of a car that crashed into a skip in Galwally Avenue, near Forestside, at around 2.40pm on Sunday.

A PSNI spokeswoman said officers are investigating the cause of the collision and are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police non emergency number 101.

The woman's death is understood to mark the 76th fatality on Northern Ireland's roads this year.
