Emergency services cut the roof off a car after a two-vehicle crash in Belfast city centre.

One female passenger was taken to hospital for head and neck injuries -that are not thought to be life threatening- following the crash.

The female passenger of the other car was treated at the scene for minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

The male drivers of both cars escaped injury.

The two vehicle collision happened at the junction of York Street in Belfast city centre where it is understood the traffic lights have been out of action since Sunday evening.

Police and two fire appliances with twelve firefighters from Northern Ireland Fire Service attended the scene.

Onlookers watched as fire fighters cut the roof off the car.

Group Commander Aidan Jennings said the roof was cut away to get the injured female passenger out of the car.

A spokeswoman for the PSNI said they were called to the crash at 3.40pm.
