Ex-soldier from Dunmurry caged for 'callous' sex attack

BY ASHLEIGH McDONALD

A 29-year-old former soldier who carried out a "callous, cynical and opportunistic" sexual assault on a woman who was passed out drunk on his sofa has been jailed for 15 months.

Jonathan Falls filmed part of the incident on his friend's mobile phone, leaving the victim so traumatised she has since emigrated.

Falls, from Rathmoyne House in the Seymour Hill area of Dunmurry, was handed a 30-month prison sentence.

He will spend 15 months of the sentence in custody and the remaining 15 months on licence.

The incident occurred in the early hours on April 7, 2012 after a group of people including Falls and the woman had been drinking in his flat.

The woman was so drunk that she passed out in his living room.

A party-goer said he saw Falls taking his lower clothing off.

Naked from the waist down, Falls then began rubbing himself against the prone woman.

Falls then lifted his friend's mobile phone and began recording himself touching the woman.

Falls was placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.
