Falls Road shooting: Man stable after being shot in legs near jobs centre in west Belfast
A man has been shot in the legs in the Falls Road area of west Belfast.
The incident happened close to a jobs and benefits office.
The man was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment. He is in a stable condition.
The SDLP's Alex Attwood said: "This latest shooting is another assault on human rights and a renewed attempt by the few to impose their violent authority on the community. It must be condemned and confronted.
"I spent time in the Lower Falls this lunchtime. Many people are at their wits end about crime and gangs. Tonight's attack will just make a bad situation worse, create fear and is rejected by the big majority.
"Two weeks ago I met with senior west Belfast and senior central PSNI officers. I made the point that there needed to be a relentless month to month, year on year strategy to confront this new generation of terror and the threat of crime gangs.
"Tonight confirms the analysis."
