Family of tragic biker Wayne Hamilton lift his award
Tears flowed freely as the mother of tragic biker Wayne Hamilton accepted an award for her son's previous win at the Manx Grand Prix, while his father comforted his younger brother, Tyler.
Wayne took his first Isle of Man win just two days before his fatal accident on Monday.
His mother, Sonya, father, David and Tyler collected the winner's trophy on his behalf at the Manx Grand Prix prize- giving. He was killed during a newcomer's race just 48 hours after his superb victory.
The crash happened as the 20-year-old was holding third place on his 600cc Yamaha.
Hundreds of spectators at the Villa Marina in capital Douglas gave the family a standing ovation yesterday as they accepted the award.
The young rider's death was the second to hit Ulster racing following that of Tyrone rider Adrian McFarland in the Czech Republic last Saturday.
