Family’s charitable leap of faith from 13,000ft
Three generations of a fearless Co Antrim family proved they have the right stuff after taking part in a sponsored tandem skydive from 13,000 feet.
Paul Blair, Major Officer Commanding The Red Devils parachute display team, who is originally from Carrickfergus, organised the charity challenge in Wiltshire. His mum Gladys (66), sister Janeene Murphy (41) and niece Rachael (17) successfully completed the jump.
The jump so far has raised £600, which they hope to raise to £1,000, for two charities, the Afghanistan Trust — supporting the injured and families of those killed in Afghanistan — and the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
“It was the first time they’ve ever jumped but they all did really well,” he said. “My mum had about two or three weeks of sleepless nights before the jump but she went for it.”
