Fatal Dungannon crash takes death toll on roads to 21 this year
A motorist has died and another person has been seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision on the M1.
The injured person was taken to the A&E department in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital. Their condition was described last night as serious.
The accident near Dungannon, Co Tyrone, involved a lorry and a car.
The collision happened on the motorway's eastbound carriageway at around 5.10pm yesterday.
An ambulance crew was on the scene at junction 15 within minutes.
The motorway was expected to remain closed in both directions for some time while police enquiries were carried out.
Yesterday's M1 fatality brings to 21 the number of people who have died on Northern Ireland's roads this year.
The PSNI's Inspector Andrew Archibald has appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact police in Dungannon on 101.
