Female pedestrian dies after being hit by bus on M2 motorway in Belfast

A female pedestrian has died following a collision with a bus on the M2 motorway in Belfast.

It happened on Tuesday morning on the M2 northbound between Sandyknowes and Greencastle,

The PSNI have said circumstances of the collision are now under investigation.

Inspector Rosie Leech said: "The circumstances of the collision, which occurred just before 6am, are now under investigation and we are keen to hear from witnesses. The number to call is 101."

In Belfast the M2 northbound between Sandyknowes and Greencastle at Junction 2 to Junction 4 was closed, causing long tailbacks, has now re-opened.

Congestion is slowly easing however delays remain on the M5 towards the Shore Road from the M2 and also on the Antrim Road through Glengormley Village, approaching Sandyknowes junction.
