Female thief burgles OAP at knifepoint

By Staff Reporter

A knife-wielding female burglar has robbed a pensioner in her own home.

The attack happened in Pound Street, Larne, at about 11pm on Thursday when the woman, who is in her 60s, answered a knock to the door.

The armed attacker forced her way in and demanded money.

The victim handed over a sum of cash, and the robber then made off on foot towards Meetinghouse Street.

The knife burglar is approximately 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and was wearing jeans, a blue top and a baseball cap. Detectives are appealing to anyone with information to contact the police on the non-emergency phone number 101.

East Antrim Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson condemned the robbery.

"This was a disgusting and vicious incident, made all the worse by the use of a weapon. My thoughts are with the woman who was subjected to this traumatic ordeal," he said.
