Festival fever hits Bangor
Former chart star Curtis Stigers is to play in BangorONE of the biggest events on the festival calendar is taking place in Ward Park next weekend.
Among those taking part in the event on August 23 and 24 are legendary jazz performer Curtis Stigers, a Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald tribute show and up-and-coming talent Ben Glover and The Earls.
Stigers had early pop chart success with hit albums and top 10 singles including You're All That Matters To Me, Never Saw A Miracle and I Wonder Why.
This weekend’s events begin with Ben Glover and The Earls, who will be on stage from 7pm.
Ben has been off touring in the United States and recorded his debut album in Nashville with some of the biggest names in the business.
He is then follows by Stigers who is currently touring Europe with some of the world’s best musicians including Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Ronnie Scott’s Big Band.
On Sunday, between 3-5pm, Scottish singer Todd Gordon in union with British jazz superstar Elaine Delmar will deliver a carefully orchestrated show of the best from the Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald songbook.
A full live band will play all the classics such as Manhattan, Every Time We Say GoodBye and New York New York to name a few.
Todd Gordon is a jazz and swing vocalist who has appeared at some of the greatest venues in New York and London. Elaine Delmar comes from a musical family and has appeared on the London and Broadway stage along with many worldwide tours. One of Elaine’s high points is her annual engagement at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, so don’t miss out on seeing these two gifted vocalists live in Bangor.
And if that wasn’t enough on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25, Bangor will be buzzing from 12-6pm with FREE street entertainment at the McKee Clock on the seafront.
The acts will have audiences of all ages laughing and amused. Performances will include ‘Reckless Invention’ — a mock street dance show with even a freaky spinning dummy and some fine retro clothing,
