Firefighters battled an intensive blaze at a industrial site in Co Armagh yesterday.

The fire broke out at the site just before noon.

It was reported that the blaze had been extinguished last night.

The Drumnacanvy Road, Knocknamuckly in Portadown was closed because of the incident.

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokeswoman described it as "a major fire involving a large industrial unit".

"Residents in the area are being asked to close all windows and doors as a precautionary measure at this time," the NIFRS had advised yesterday.

The fire was reported at 11.51am yesterday and five fire appliances and 23 firefighters were sent to the scene.

The NIFRS told the BBC that "everything from diggers to wood" was on fire at the unit.
