Firm fined over work van cigarette butt notice

A business has been fined £250 after it failed to return a notice for information from Belfast City Council in relation to a person allegedly throwing a cigarette butt from a work van on December 22, 2011, at Great Victoria Street in Belfast. D&K Electrical, at Old Fort Lodge, Moyraverty, Craigavon, Co Armagh, was also ordered to pay costs of £66. Ciara Robinson, from Strand Mews in east Belfast, was fined £60 and ordered to pay costs of £66 for dropping a cigarette butt at William Street South in December 16, 2011. Drinker and dog owners fined Two dog owners have been fined at Belfast Magistrates Court. Barbara Fleming, from Rathmore Street in east Belfast, was fined £75 and ordered to pay costs of £66 for allowing her dog to stray. Also fined for allowing his dog to stray, twice, was John Connors, from Conor Rise in west Belfast. He was fined a total of £20 and ordered to pay costs of £66. Meanwhile a Newtownabbey man was fined for drinking alcohol in public. Brendan Francis Webb, from Fairyknowe Gardens, was fined £25 and ordered to pay costs of £66 after he was detected drinking alcohol at Rugby Avenue in the university area of Belfast on December 4, 2011. The prosecutions were brought by Belfast City Council.
