Former USPCA chief executive Stephen Philpott arrested in charity fraud probe
The former chief executive of animal charity USPCA has been arrested by detectives investigating allegations of fraud.
Stephen Philpott (53) was arrested along with a 52-year-old woman in the Newry area on Wednesday morning.
The investigation started in April following a complaint made to police concerning potential fraud within the USPCA.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Wilson, from PSNI Economic Crime Unit, said: “A complaint was made to police in April and, as a result of our enquiries, two people were arrested this morning.
"They are being questioned at Banbridge police station.”
