Four gifted young Northern Ireland musicians get funding boost
Four talented young people from Northern Ireland have won the prestigious Young Musicians' Platform Award.
The four winners include three classical musicians - Newry pianist Seán Morgan-Rooney, Warrenpoint baritone Aaron O'Hare and Lisburn harpist Richard Allen - with the folk award going to Niall Hanna, a singer and guitarist from Dungannon.
The awards, run by the Arts Council and BBC NI, aim to showcase and support young musicians by providing funding awards of £5,000 for time learning from a master musician, mentor, teacher or composer. The awardees will receive two professional radio broadcast engagements, including one with the Ulster Orchestra.
