Four hurt as youths stone buses

Four women have been injured after vehicles were attacked in east Belfast.

One of the women was hit by a stone while three others were struck by flying glass when youths pelted the buses on which they were travelling.

The attacks happened in the Castlereagh Street and Beersbridge Road areas at about 9.30pm last night.

Four buses and a number of cars were damaged.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the youths dispersed when officers were called to the scene.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police at Strandtown on the non emergency 101 number.

Maire Hendron, Alliance Party councillor in east Belfast, said: "This was completely reckless behaviour, carried out by those who have no regard for the consequences of their actions.

"This must have been a very frightening experience for the people in these vehicles.

"I hope that those who were injured will be able to make a swift recovery."
