Four in hospital after car crash

Four people were taken to hospital after being struck by a car in east Belfast today.

The driver of the silver Audi is believed to have lost control and the car careered onto the footpath hitting a woman on a mobility scooter.

She was talking to two other people at a bus stop at the time.

All three were standing outside a charity shop on the Woodstock Road. The front window of the shop was smashed by the impact.

The Woodstock and Cregagh Roads have been closed as emergency crews attend the scene.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said on its Twitter account: " NIAS at the scene of serious incident on Woodstock Road in Belfast following reports that vehicle has collided with a number of pedestrians.

"First reports indicate that 3 persons have been injured. NIAS crews, officers and doctor in attendance.

"There are also reports that the car has gone through a shop window and a fourth A&E resource has been requested by staff at the scene."
