Four raid accused freed as case doesn't add up
Four men accused of having a gun and trying to raid a house have walked free after their lawyers argued that at least one of them had to be innocent.
A judge at Belfast Magistrates Court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to connect the suspects to charges linked to an alleged attempted raid at a house just outside the north of the city.
Newtownabbey men Ryan Neil Hagan (27), of Cherrymount; Darren James McKee (27) and David Carson Allen (24), both from Forthill Drive — appeared in the dock alongside Andrew David Boyd (27), of Glenfield Road, Lurgan. Defence lawyers argued they could not be connected to the case because the alleged victim said only three men were involved.
District Judge Fiona Bagnall agreed and the men were released.
